willy wonka makes everything he bakes satisfying and delicous

i have the three cutest kids in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are all adorable. (ithiel, your daughter is up there on my list, dont worry)
i love my children. today, however, two of the cutest kids in the world had a very messy room. i was scrambling around like mad yesterday and then again today trying to find a babysitter for tonight. i found one and then it dawned on me; this girls hast to put my two little ones to bed. i need to clean up their room so she doesnt kill herself while doing so (you know, i really dont need that kind of lawsuit). so, the better part of my morning was spent bringing order to the chaos, while they ran around the room pretending they were helping but really just making a bigger mess. i even vacuumed the house today and everything. had it all pretty and clean. i was understandably bummed when i got home and the house was a disaster again. not mad at the sitter mind you, i know how fast my children can wreak such havok, but bummed none the less. i always like it when jason can come home to a clean house.
we bought willy wonka on tuesday, the day it came out. its summer's favorite movie now (replacing jurassic park, i'm sure only temporarily). she loved it when we saw it in the theaters and has sung the willy wonka song many times since, but i have watched it everyday wince we brought it home. not as bad as i might have thought. 1) i have developed a tolerance to this sort of thing as a parent thrice over and 2) it a really intriging movie to analize. i really enjoy comparing and contrasting the two chocolate factory movies. simply because they are so different. people have asked me several times if i thought the new one was better and my answer has been the same every time. there is no comparison. really. they are so different you just cant compare the two in terms of which is better. totally different. i like the different perspective on the willy wonka character himself. that is most intriging. i am especially happy that now mr poni has finally seen it to so we can discuss together. intersetingly enough we have talked about the two movies indepth many times already even with him not having seen the remake, but now he has so i am hoping for even more wonderful conversations. i havent read the book, i think i might do that sometime. i'd like to see how my own perception of willy wonka compares.

I agree about not being able to compare the two. There are obvious similarities- Wonka, Charlie, the factory and all- but the story line is much different in the remake.

Did you know that the screenwriter of Tim Burton's Chocolate Factory has a website? Because he does:

    John August
