damn dirndl dresses
ok, so last night at my daughters german dance class the teacher announced that next week they would have to be in costume. my daughter burst into tears and told me and her best friend that she was not coming next week. you see i have been procrastenating and i did not get her a costume. oops. now what. i have a week to find a dirndl dress. crap.
i called the old lady that makes the dresses here in town and she suggested i check the thrift store. she was there 2 weeks ago and saw 2 kids dresses she thinks were about my daughters size. i asked her if she still had time to make a dress and she said she could have it done whenever i needed it but i should check the thrift store 'cuz they are only $25. i wonder how much she charges. i didnt ask and she didnt offer but its sounds like quite a bit more than twnety five. so i was at the thrift store run by the senier center here in town as soon as they opened this am. no kids dresses. uh-oh. mommy done a bad thing. i called my mom. "they only have adult dresses here. i f i get a small sized adult dress can you take it in." after about ten minutes of explaination i got the jist. a definate no, how dare i even consider calling and asking. crap.
well, i bought an adult dress anyway. i'm crafty. true i dont sew but i might be able to finagle it. i hope. so i have this beautiful dress here and am waiting for my daughter to get home from school so i can try it on her. i ahve already pinned up the straps at the top so the torso isnt quite so long and i pinned up the hem of the dress as far as i can. god, i hope it works.

peaches: thanks, wish me luck!
comicfan: thanks for the sympathy. it was pretty terrible. she was so disappointed.
angelkris: here is a dirndl style dress. or if you recall the very cute picture that ithiel had posted with him and his red rosy checks in liederhosen and his adorable daughter is wearing a dirndl.

That's what I thought it was, but I wasn't 100% sure. Anyway, best of luck and hope it works out- let us know.
